The ice dispenser quit suddenly. No crushed ice, no cubes, plenty of ice in the tray.

Have studied many post on this problem and proceeded thus. Have checked the continuity of the ice dispenser motor and it is good. Checked the voltage at the solenoid with the freezer door switch closed and the ice dispenser lever closed and zero voltage noted. From this results, it is assumed that the problem is in the switches on thefront cover assembly (PN AP3181199) on the front of the freezer door. This assembly is currently out of stock. While waiting for the part to arrive,
a. I still have a question about removing the cover. I agree that the diagram seems to have clips on the bottom of the frame which would make it impossible to pry from the bottom as most instructions state. Could you confirm that starting from the bottom is the proper method of removing the frame for this model.
b. Should the continuity of the switches be checked for proper operation (can this be done through the harness?) prior to ordering the replacement assembly.
c. Any idea how long it will take to get the part in stock?

Thanks for the help. It's been fun trying to sort all this out from the forum.

Hi Clarence,

a. The instructions are attached to the reply.

b. I do not think it's possible due to lack of the wiring diagram.

c. You should talk to the APP team.

For all who asked how to remove the trim panel. The instructions Gene gave are good. Start at the bottom of the trim panel and pry loose with a screwdriver. The clips at the bottom "pop" loose with continued pressure. You will swear that the trim panel broke when it pops loose. After poping the bottom loose, lift the panel and disengage the three tabs at the top of the trim panel. They dont pop loose like the bottom so don't start prying from the top. Be careful once the panel is loose so that the wiring harness does not break any of the supporting brackets.
I didn't break the trim panel when I removed it, however, I did break the tab off one side of the drip tray. Still dont know how to remove the tray without breaking it.
Good luck trying, it can be done!
