I have a kitchenaid SxS (model KSRA25ILSS13) and the ice maker has ceased working. I have been on this site (and others)reading and trouble-shooting, and here is what I have done.

1) defrosted the whole fridge over night to eliminate the possibility of an ice blockage anywhere in the water line
2) pulled the sheet with the optic codes out of the bottom of the fridge and the flashing lights seem to indicate that there is not issue there (two flashes pause, two flashes)
3) Manually filled the ice tray with water, and it seems to have frozen but it has not harvested. The ice remains in the tray.

This fridge has been nothing but problems (5 years old), and I assume my only recourse is to spend another 110 bucks and buy a whole new ice maker, but before I do that I wanted to see if you had other suggestions.

Also, I have not been able to figure out how the ice tray knows when to fill. Is there just a sensor that detects when its empty?

Any guidance is much appreciated.
