Take off the light bulb socket and clean the contacts inside where the bulb screws into, that bottom contact may be corroded. If that does not work, your light switch is most likely bad.

I did lightly sand the contacts; that didn't work. How do I replace the switch? Is that something I might do?

Here is the part# Part Details - GE Light switch, part number: WR23X10143

Get a small blade screw driver pop the old one out, and put the new one in, pretty simple. To verify for certain it is the switch, you can remove the switch and put the 2 ends together to see if the light comes on.

That little rectangular housing for the switch doesn't pop right off with a small screwdriver. Is it attached to some wires or something behind the frame? Or is it just really stubborn?
