Greetings all

Amana BR22VW upright refrigerator/freezer, freezer on bottom.

1) The entire unit was unplugged for cleaning, after plugging back in freezer began malfunctioning.

2) Yesterday disconnected the thermostat and shorted two leads together. Five hours later the internal temperature dropped to 38 degrees. I think it should have been colder after 5 1/2 hours. Reconnected the thermostat and went to sleep.

3) This morning at 6am the temperature dropped to 33 degrees. After 11 hours of monitoring the inside freezer temperature it was only 33 degrees.

4) Refrigerator above is fine, no issues. Therefore I am ruling out low freon as I would suspect if unit was low on freon the refrig would malfunction also.

5) Yes, fan is discharging air into the freezer section.

Can someone steer me in the right direction?

Thank You

I have an 2003 Amana bottom freezer refrigerator. The freezer is just cold and will not freeze anything. No frost on the coils. Replaced the thermostat part #10442411 which was covered in ice. I dropped it just before instillation, hope this did not effect it. It still isn't freezing. I do have part # P1309702WL the timer defrost however, I do not know where to install it. The fan is working. Before I installed the thermostat part I could put a bag of ice in the freezer area and it would last me a few days. Now when I put a bag of ice in it starts to melt and only last one day. I have seemed to made more of a problem. Help me to get my freezer to work. Thank you for your time and efforts.
