I have a Kenmore refrigerator model# 253.6480240c. It is 1yr 4mo old. The refrigerator and the freezer are not cooling down to proper temp. I removed back panel inside the freezer compartment to inspect the evaporator. It is only partially frosted. The fan and compressor both run. I unplugged and thawed the partially frosted evaporator for 2 hrs. and plugged back in and the evaporator partially frosted again. The fridge runs about 56 degrees and the freezer about 40 degrees. Any suggestions?

Make sure the condensing fan in the back is running. If so, you have refrigeration problems. Check your warranty, the compressor may be covered.

This model is not fan cooled and does not have condenser coils in the rear. The compressor is running and quite hot. The fan in the rear of the interior part of freezer is running as well.
Does it sound like compressor or freon issues?
The Sears one year warranty ran out in April, 2008. Would manufacturer have warranty on something like this?

Usually a bad freon leak will leak out everything and you get no cooling, seems like a bad compressor.
