Recently my ice maker bagan leaving a trail of water all the way down the door which in turn became a glacier. Also the ice holding tray was getting water in it whcich would freeze the cubes together that were already in it. I read several sites and found that the tube coming in from the back had a small piece of ice on the tip and that supposedly could mean the valve on the back was leaking a bit so I came here to find the valve AP3706447 (WR57X10050) which I bought here and replaced. I am not sure if I was shipped the wrong one or if it is bad or if I installed it wrong (it will only fit one way and is hooked up correctly) but it doesnt do anything now. No ice in tray or on door LOL. Did I replace wrong part and nothing was wrong with old one and now whatever was bad is now completely out? Any ideas of what to check other than just throwing parts at it would be much apprectiated.

I missed it in your very first post. Have you checked the incoming water line after you replaced the water inlet valve?

I have done nothing other than verify that I connected it LOL. In case the valve I bought herre might be bad I was thinking today of putting the old one back on to see if it goes back to making ice everywhere. If I need to check the line in another way please let me know. Years ago I worked on washers and dryers. Obviously this is neither!

Dave,

You had to disconnect the incoming water line in order to replace the water inlet valve and you had to shut off the water to the refrigerator at that time. Did you open it after you finished the repair?

What kind of shut off valve do you have for the refrigerator? If this is a self piercing saddle valve, then the problem can be a clogged pierced hole in a copper tube.

I have checked and water flows freely to the valve.

Remove the wires from the dispenser solenoid on the water inlet valve. You can find it by a 5/16" tube connected to it. Check for 120 VAC between these wires while the dispenser calls for water.
