The water hose to the water valve on my refrigerator had a leak, rather than cutting out the part that was leaking and splicing in a new piece I just shortened the hose and tried to reinsert it to the water valve. Now it just leaks from the valve/hose connection. Do I need to replace the whole valve, is there a different part to replace or a secret to getting the connector to seal tightly? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
