Yes, it can be done. You have to order new fitting kit. The instructions are attached to the reply.

Did you read the previous post?

The instructions are attached to it and you can use the same part number.

What if I have a GE side by side Gss25sgmdbs? The line is cut at the bottom hinge, so I need to replace the line. Is it the basic same assembly or is something else needed?

It is more complicated with this refrigerator. Click on the part number or picture bellow and scroll down to the Q & A section for the installation instructions.

P.S. It is possible that you will have to remove the inner door panel to do this job.

Gene: Thanks, that was the part I thought I needed, but is there anywhere where I can determine if door panel needs to be removed. I thought I would be able to take apart the ice maker panel, and pull the tube out and rethread. The diagram from GE does not indicate how the line is threaded through.

Any direction would be appreciated.

Gene:

I got the part, but I am not sure how this escutcheon or trim plate is removed. I do not want to break it, and am not positive on how to remove. Any help to get it off will be appreciated. Some forums discuss pushing and removing by the tabs. Not sure how it works.

I went to Ace and bought 6 inches of rubber water hose, $1.89 that would fit both side and used hose clamps. Cut out hole and attach hose and use the hose clamps. Mine has been working ever since, for years, mine is a GE pss29ngmbcc. The water line cracked in two places where the line bent to sharp when it was only 2 years old. GE wanted $275 to replace the line. GE should of just used good plastic hose intead of being CHEEP.
