This refrigerator is getting 120 V power to the relay mounted on the side of the compressor. Both fans (internal and external) run continually when power cord is plugged in. There is NO continuity between either of the three compressor terminals and the case. There IS continuity between any two of the three terminals on the compressor. The relay is obviously defective - burned points, scorched and crumbly case. A replacement has been ordered. Beyond that, is there anything else that might be in the circuit that should be checked? The schematic shows the capacitor to be a RUN type. Is this a split phase motor? Could a bad run capacitor possibly affect starting? If the defrost timer is in the circuit to the compressor, what is the procedure for removing the housing that covers it or checking the timer operation? The location is at top inside of refrigerator and below the top-mounted freezer section. Links to any photos or service manuals will be appreciated along with specific advice. Many thanks!

You should have a accurate digital meter to check things. There are three compressor pins, one common and two others. The common pin has the overload klixon on it. Measure the resistance between this termanal ant the other two, post results.
