I am wanting to adjust the thermastat to a temperature of around 50 degrees F. This is beyond the capacity of the normal temperature adjust knob. I understand there is a screw that may be turned to adjust the temperature on/in the thermastat. Instructions? Thanks.

Only way to get that temperature is with a constant diferential control (ambient control) Part # GC505 You must route the sensor wire from this away from the freezer vent.
