Freezer and refrigerator had a hard time getting to set temp when opening doors thruout the day and/or loading with groceries.
Checked the condenser fan and was running unbelievably slow (I mean really slow). I put a small fan behind the refrigerator blowing across the condenser coil. Works great now but will get a replacement fan soon but hope it provides more revolutions than the current fan otherwise I am in the same boat.
Does anybody know if this low RPM fan is part of the energy saving approach?

Hopefully the fan will fix it but typically the main board causes this. The fan will change speeds. The way this is done is the main board sends different voltages to the fan depending on if it needs to be running high, medium or low speed (it will only have low speed if it has a variable speed compressor). If you have a voltage tester you can test the voltage on the main board. This page should help GE Refrigerator Fan Motor Diagnostics

Very good repair site Applianceman, have posted this to the sticky GE refrigerator (GS& PSS) models. People can go to the last page of this sticky for this reference.
