I have a Hotpoint, freezer-on-top, 2 year-old refrigerator that stopped working in December of last year. Indeed, it was, unavoidably, in an extreme environment - an unheated, glorified, deer-stand in the NorthEast. It survived one Winter and worked well through the Autumn until one evening when it refused to cycle on. The failure was noticed fairly quickly - within an hour or less - and the unit was unplugged. The temperatures had been below freezing at night and in the 40s during the day.

When it is plugged in, the light works, a very quiet hum is audible, and the power draw is noticeable as indicated by the nearby table light dimming slightly. I have read some posts about the start relay and compressor failures; however, I have never heard any clicks at any time. What is the problem and is a dyi repair feasible?
