Model Number: MSD2556AEW Brand: Maytag Age: More than 10 years
Purchased new refrigerator / freezer and had installer move existing Maytag side/side refrigerator to the garage to serve as a secondary for drinks etc. Freezer is cold, refrigerator is 45 - 52 degrees and so I checked the coils for icing. Clean as a whistle, evaporator fan was blowing. Refrigerator was tilted back about 45 degrees when moved to clear some objects that were hanging, could that have led to the problem?

Check the freezer temperature just cold may not be good enough to cool down the fresh food section. It should be around 0 degrees F. Also how long have you let it run, give it at least 24 hours before concluding that you have a problem. and so I checked the coils for icing. Clean as a whistle, evaporator fan was blowing. This sort of concerns me as usually after a unit has had the doors opened you would expect that the coils would be condensing out the moisture from the air in the unit so you would see frost. A coating of frost is normal except right after a defrost cycle. Refrigerator was tilted back about 45 degrees when moved to clear some objects that were hanging, could that have led to the problem? Usually tilting back does not cause a problem. It is a good idea to leave a fridge unplugged for 24 hours after it is moved just in case some oil got up into the lines..
