The refrigerator side lower door stop / cam / hinge assembly was mounted on the plastic molding on the bottom of the stainless door. This was not reinforced in any way, other than a couple of screws through a small metal plate into that plastic. Needless to say, careless teenager "hung" on the door looking for milk, and that whole assembly pushed right through the plastic, shattering it.
Lots of parts places don't understand the issue and keep trying to sell me a new cam. I have all of those pieces, but now have nothing to mount it to.
Is there a fix? They don't sell the molding, only the door.
I'm thinking a strong epoxy or fiberglass to lock it in - but then if the cam does break, I'm really stuck with having to replace the whole door...
Suggestions???
