Gas smell does not happen every time. I have replaced the high limit, igniter,
and solenoid coils and still smell gas periodically. The dryer works fine but the periodic smell of gas is alarming.
I assume as long as the exhaust blower works it will take any gas out through the exhaust vent. What happens if the exhaust blower quits.?
