Hello, I have a Samsung Refrigerator, model RS2544SL, with a broken top hinge. The hinge is on the refrigerator side. The specific part that seems to have broken is the plastic cam that seats in the hinge plate. However I am unable to find that part and have been told that the upper hinge assembly for that model has been discontinued. I should note that the result of the broken cam is the door will open to about 1/4 of the way, and then drop down maybe 1/8". It then will only close if you lift the door straight up and close at the same time.

Looking for advice on a possible fix.
I'd hate for a little plastic part to cause a new refrigerator purchase.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Here are your parts
Parts for Samsung RS2544SL - AppliancePartsPros.com

I am not sure about the following as you say the "top hinge" but the above is for the bottom hinge.

I would replace both cams.
Item 5 in Section 06 is the lower cam. It is available.

Item 17 in section 11 is the upper cam. It says it is unavailable but if you click on the part's description it gives the below as an alternative in the Q&A section.

Part number: DA66-00344A

Thanks for your reply denman. I guess it isn't the cam I need after seeing the pic. Maybe it's the Solenoid that says "not available". On the schematic pic you sent a link for, it's the "post" coming out of the bottom of part #23 in the Hinge Parts picture. Is that the Solenoid? Basically the electric wire runs down through it, it has a rimmed lip on it so it sits in the slot of the plate properly, and goes down into the door frame. When I reference the replacement part for part #23, I have been told that is an Ice tray part which doesn't apply on this model.

Thanks again.

Yes the parts look screwed up on this unit.

Give the parts representatives at AppliancePartsPros a call.
They have a lot more knowledge about parts than I do.
