Hello. I have a magic chef gas range that works pretty well. I am having a problem with the knob which controls the temperature/clock/timer. When I turn it, it doesn't move the numbers very well. I need to turn the knob about ten times or so before it moves. It seems if I wiggle the knob while turning, it works. My questions are:
1. Would cleaning the knob work? If so, how 2. Can I replace just that knob/switch or do I need to replace the whole clock module, which seems to be pretty expensive. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thank you

Here are your parts Replacement parts for MAGIC CHEF S64H-4TKXW RANGE- S/C S/I GAS | AppliancePartsPros.comLooking at how the control board is put together with the potentiometer sandwiched between two boards I would say it is not replaceable so you may have ti purchase a new timer. What I would try first is cleaning it. Unplug the stove and remove the timer. Then spray into the potentiometer using an electronics contact cleaner. There are usually little holes in the pot to let you do this. Move the control back and forth as the cleaner solvent dries. Do this a couple times. Then give it a try, make sure all the solvent evaporates before hooking it up again. |
