For the last several months, the oven has been slow to light. Now it wont light or it will light for a few minutes and then turn off. The Igniter is cherry red--seems to be working. Is there a thermocouple to a gas valve that could be defective or is the valve defective? Please advise.

Even though the ignitor looks red, check it with an ohm meter (there's a great post about testing components on this site) They can get hairline cracks that you can't see but it can keep it from igniting. Do you smell gas when it's trying to light?

BRM I am now having the same problem with my Crosley C31103SAT oven. Did you finally get your problem solved?

If the oven igniter glows but the gas does not flow and the flame does not light, replace the oven igniter. One of the articles on the forum explains How Oven Igniter Works. - The oven igniter Part number: AP4012072

I have a 24" Premier Peerless gas oven SCK3XRBP and the pilot light does come on but the oven burners don't light. I also don't smell gas when it is trying to light. Is it the thermocouple or something else? It is about 5 years old.

Nat I do smell gas when mine is trying to light, after maybe 15 minutes of glowing it ignites. I don't have an ohm meter
