We had a power outage for a few hours the other day and when my wife went to use our washer it had a F9 code displayed and now it won't run at all.

Does anyone know what this code is?

Thanks,

Kevin:(

That code will come up when there is insufficient power to the control board. You need to see if you can determine if 120v are getting to the board. If not, look for a problem in the wiring. If so, the board will probably need to be replaced, and given its costs and the age of the machine I would opt for a new washer.

Good luck.

I (along with, I think many of the people who reply on Forum's like this) strongly favor a basic, no frills top loading washer without mircroprocessor controls. They do a very good job, cost far less than the front loaders, and since they do not have microprocessor controls they do not break as quicky and are far less expensive to repair. I am partial to the direct drive Whirlpool/Roper/Inglis/Kenmore lines, but the other major brands, GE, Frigidaire and Maytag are also fine.

In our area you can get a basic machine with all the options you need for about $350.00, and if you find ones on sale you can even get one for about $300.00. If it has a couple of water temp selections, water level selections and a couple of wash options then you have everything you need to get your clothes clean in an efficient manner. Things like "ultra delicates cycles" are not needed, in this country we throw out clothes based on style long before they wear out from too many washings.

If you look over Forum's like this you will see problems on front loaders with electronic controls tend to dominate, and have expensive repairs if they can even be repaired at all.

Good luck whatever you do.
