This is normal. The sump will always have water in it, best thing to do is make sure you run bleach through the system periodically to keep down on the smell. Also you must keep the door open when not in use for air circulation.

Pull off the input hose to the pump and check for something in there.

The pump filter on our washer does not completely drain. At the end of each cycle, I get about 2 cups of water out. If I don't drain it, it smells terrible. I have the front cover off and a bucket handy for each load and it is getting old. Obviously most of the water is draining. Why won't all of it drain? Thanks in advance
