Get a screwdriver and a 5/16 nut driver (or pliers). Remove bottom kickpanel (4 bolts). You will probably see one of the door cables broken. Replace both cables (even though one is broken, new cable will be stronger than the remaining old one, if used together this will cause extra stress on the weak cable and door frame, so it is recommended to replace both door cables at the same time).

Let me know if both cables are good, but I'm pretty sure that at least one of them is broken.

I am trying to repair GE Dishwasher GSD640L-03 door that falls down when I unlatch the lock and open the door.

Before the door was broken it would slowly open and slowly close but now the door would just fall down (I'm thinking the spring device holding the door maybe broken). I want to order replacement parts but how do I know which part is the right part for my problem?
