Glad you got it fixed. You mentioned a button that detects when the RAM is in the home (retracted) position. Do you remember how to get to it? I know where the door closed switch is. Thanks for the help!

The solution I found was there is a sensor to determine if the door is closed. It's tucked away on the top left side - the door will have a
rubber/plastic finger to press the button. It's been a while but, pressing
that button with the other button that detects when the RAM is in the
home (retracted) position while turning the dial switch on the front of
the compactor will result in changing the direction of the worm
screw gear, allowing you to thread the trunion nut into position. I did
it by myself, but it requires enough arms to get to work it would be easier
to do with two people.
BTW, it has been working properly for three months now.

How did you overcome the screw direction? I was thinking of raising the assembly to the top by hand while the motor was running hoping that this would trigger a reverse switch. Once the motor was rotating in the opposite direction, the nut would thread in the proper direction. Just waiting for the part to try.

your nut trunion has probably cracked. you will need to get the door open, i believe on the right side are 2, maybe 1 latch locking the door in place, get a screw driver and pop them open. After you get the door open, I can help guide you the rest of the way

My compactor will not stop running. The crushing arm is stuck in the lower position and the door will only open about 2 inches. If you stick your hand in to feel around (unplugged) you get black grease on your fingers. Open from the back and you can see the crushing arm lowered, not moving, but the motor is working hard. What do I do?
