Since your machine performs correctly in the rinse cycle, it does not seem like there is a mechanical problem. The problem is likely in your timer not sending the correct electrical current to the motor.

Take off the connection to the timer and clean it thoroughly with contact cleaner and reseat it. Also check all of the wiring between the motor and the timer. If everything checks out, try replacing the timer, this part here.

My washing machine doesn't agitate on the wash cycle but it does work on the spin cycle. How do you fix this?
