Whenever I wash dishes, the drain air gap gushes with water into the sink. I have read instructions in the manual and on-line.

My air gap on the inside is different. Once the chrome cover is removed, there is no plastic cap to unscrew. There is a hooked pipe turned back down inside making it impossible to clean as the directions suggest. I looked under the sink and nothing is twisted or caught.

Can I repair this or do I have to call a plumber? Any help is much appreciated.
