If you check the wiring diagram you will see a Hi-limit Thermostat (Item 9 in Section 1),
The problem is that this should kill power to both the elements and the control panel unless your unit is wired differently which can happen as they sometimes make changes during units lifetime.

This would be a long shot.

Also I would check the wires from the control board to the broil element to ensure they are OK.

Since you did not measure the broil element, I assume you do not have a meter or experience using one and the only other test is to check for voltage at the board's broil connectors. This requires messing with 240 volts which can be very dangerous so I do not recommend you try it.

All that is really left is the control board and usually "Requires Special Attention" means it is obsolete but may be worth calling them.

There are companies that will repair appliance circuit boards.

Hi Denman
I just replaced the broiler heating element that is on top inside the oven and it is not working. Is there something else I could check?
Thanks for your time

Pull it and check it with a meter for continuity, usually around 10 ohms.

Is there something that can cause the top heating element to stop working or does it just need to be replaced?
Thanks

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for CRE9600 models | AppliancePartsPros.com

First check that both elements are OK.
Most units use both elements during preheat and many units switch back and forth between the elements during bake as this gives a more consistent temperature in the oven.

Below is a good site with troubleshooting help.
Check the sensor connections and the sensor.

The Maytag oven was purchased in 1994
The only service to the oven was the heating element replaced about two years ago.
The problem I am having is the oven is not heating to the temperature that I set on the panel.
The temperature needs to be set about 125 degrees hotter to reach the desired temperature. I understand that the thermostat can be calibrated 35 degrees warmer or cooler.
If I do not adjust the temperature back to the desired temperature after the oven preheats, then over time the oven gets hotter. However, if I adjust the temperature down then it gets cooler over time.
Could you tell me if I need a new sensor or a new thermostat.
Thank you for your time.
