Good video. I wish I could tell you exactly what the problem is. I've been working on this model of WP washer since 1990.

What I do know, The click before the noise starts is the transmission switching from neutral drain to spin. Instantly the noise starts, but slowly becomes quieter as the drum/basket is spinning up. When the noise starts, the clutch drum is spinning at full speed, the clutch's pad assembly is creating friction and turning against the brake release. It should release the brake while at the same slowly dragging the spin tube and basket up to spinning speed.

Until the clutch drum is moving at the same speed as the pad assembly and spin tube. By then the noise is much less. Which makes me think it has to do with the clutch or brake release or brake spin tube might be damaged. I usually pull the case off and bypass the lid switch so I can see the parts and hear where the noise is coming from. Jut be very careful. Spinning parts, sharp metal, and electricity can be bad for your health.

part 5 is the clutch, part 1 is the spin tube/brake/basket drive.

Part 15 can get broken and cause odd noises. It comes in the clutch kit.

It could also be worn out bearings. I'd check the clutch first. Look for worn out or bent parts. Hope that helps.

Here's a video I took of the noise.

What kind of noise? Is it a grinding noise, a squealing noise, or a banging noise? How long does it last? If you could post a link to a video that would help?

My Whirlpool LSN2000JQ2 washer has recently started making a loud noise at the start of the spin cycle that goes away once the tub is spinning fast.

If the tub/drum bushing/bearing was going bad, I would think I would hear it through the entire spin cycle.

Ideas for what it could be?
