Maytag Washer mvwx655dw0 a few years old will agitate as expected for a few minutes of wash cycle and then only agitate a little in each direction with a grinding noise. The filling, spinning and draining appear to function as expected. The washplate and hub don’t seem striped by visual inspection but at times it’s acting like that with a grinding noise and inconsistent agitating. At times it agitates OK and then abruptly switches to trying to agitate but moves very little. The metal threading at the top of the transmission protruding through the washplate hub does seem a little worn in places, could that be the issue?
