I have a Maytag Atlantis top load clothes washer. Model MAV7600AAW.
Its about 8 years old.

The drum will start spinning during the spin cycle. Seems to gain speed just fine. Spins full speed for maybe 20 seconds, then suddenly and violently puts on the brakes and almost stops spinning. The whole drum assy violently twists to one side from the torque. Then it starts up again. Gains speed again. Gets up to full speed for maybe 20 seconds, then does it again.

The motor keeps spinning. It never loses power. I put a new belt on it too.

I just put a new Thrust Bearing Kit in it. The brakes work fine. Agitator seems fine. It only spins one way, like it should. I'm at a loss to what it could be.

Anyone ever seen this before?
