I have searched here and the internet and it seems this is a very common problem with the Whirlpool QP units.... despite dozens of identical problems and pleas from owners I could find no resolution... I guess this is one of those problems common to the model that has everyone stumped...
If I could find a technician's diagnostic repair guide -- I could take a stab at it but can't find one on my unit ( no kick panel) nor on the internet..

WHIRLPOOL UNTERCOUNTER QUIET PARTNER V DISHWASHER -- START / RESUME BUTTON NOT WORKING -- ALL OTHER BUTTONS CAN BE ILLUMINATED !
What I've done so far..
1) shut off / on breaker
2) cleaned the drain screen
3) checked the float operation
4) checked for obstruction with wash arms
5) replaced control board
6) run diagnostics --
6a) washer runs through wash cycles and then stops dead -- no lights nothing-- I open the door to find compartment hot and suds at bottom --
--no blinking lights or any other indication on the panel to direct me to the source of trouble -- suds tell me it seems like dishwasher won't go to rinse cycle --
Out of ideas --- family pressure to purchase new dishwasher
Trouble free for 4 years until now...
Please help -- new to Forum -- where can I get diagnostics literature ? my washer has no kick panel -- where I would usually find that material
