The evaporator fan in our GE monogram freezer hits the cover from time to time making a loud noise. I've read in other spots that this is because of moisture getting into the grommet because the door is open too much (young kids?!) and that defrosting the freezer completely and drying it out solves the problem. I also have seen mention that the fan and or the grommet should be replaced. I'm not averse to replacing the part, expecially since we are selling the house and want to leave it in good condition. Can someone confirm whether I need to replace the fan and or the fan grommet? Does the problem go as far as the motor drive shaft?

Thanks,
