I have a Whirlpool gas range with Direct Spark Ignition. The wire from the DSI board to the oven ignitor seems to be intermittent. The oven doesn't sense flame sometimes and won't keep burning, but wiggling the wire often fixes it. I've already squeezed the fastons at both ends to get good connections.

I'm thinking I would like to replace this wire. I know the wire has high-temperature insulation, but is there anything else special about it? I think the ignitor itself serves as the flame sensor for the burner, so I was concerned the ignitor wire might be a thermocouple alloy rather than just a standard wire. But I don't know.

So that's my question- is there anything special about this wire?
