Hello All,
Nine-year-old Maytag frontload washer (MFW9600SQ0). Two kid household so of course the machine has been running virtually nonstop since 2008-ish. Maybe six months ago it displayed the "F/H" error code. I removed the top, checked flow meter- - good. Removed water inlet valves and had 'em checked at a local parts store and they seemed to think it was fine. So I replaced the pressure switch. Got a few months more service out of the unit, then the "F/H" error message came back to haunt me last week. Checked flow meter again- - fine. Checked pressure switch- - also fine. Threw in the towel and (perhaps foolishly or naiively) called Sears. Sent out a tech- - $80 diagnostic fee- - who put the blame on the electronic control board. Repair estimate was, of course, $600. Even HE had to admit it wouldn't make much sense to spend that kind of money to repair an eight-year-old machine. I declined the repair. But I figured $196 for the part through AppliancePartsPros was a reasonable gamble. Ordered the part and it came incredibly fast. I was super hopeful (and eager to be full of myself for fixing it) the problem would be solved and we'd get a little more life out of the ol' gal. Installed the board, easily, crossed my fingers, plugged in . . . . Error code "F/H" shortly after the diagnostic program started. Before I REALLY give up and make myself buy a new machine, anyone have any last suggestions? Much obliged.
