The light went out. I must have never replaced it since buying the house 15 years ago. The light cover (aka lens) is stuck. First thing is to get a better grip on it, so I need to remove the door. That's where *I'm* stuck.

I downloaded the manual from Amana, no problem. It says "open the door to the first stop. grasp the door firmly on each side and lift it upward off the hinges". I've tried that over and over and it doesn't budge. I'm reluctant to pull any harder, as it doesn't feel just stuck, but feels like the instructions are wrong -- metallic sound when I pull up on it.

Any advice?

Edward
