See what happens when you manually move the timer to rinse or spin. If it still does not work then this suggests the motor or the capacitor. It is very rare that the capacitor goes but easy to check out. If the capacitor is okay then the motor is the likely suspect and given the age of the machine in that case replacement is probably the better option.

I am having trouble with my whirlpool washer. It won't start. When it stopped working it made a buzzing sound. I know it's not the lid switch. So I purchased a new timer from you guys. After installing it, it still makes the same buzzing sound. I have checked the outlet and the breaker. I also visually checked all the connections and wires. It fills with water and then nothing. Just the same buzzing. I have even tried kicking it. Please help. Thank you for this free repair forum. Sincerely, jeffsdad
