I cannot be sure but I would say that it is not normal.

Since you can see light then clothes will get caught in the opening.

All I can suggest is take it apart again and investigate what is wrong.

My husband and I just replaced the rear drum felt seal with the help of your youtube video. We got the dryer all put back together, but before closing the top we checked inside the drum to make sure everything was fitting properly. We noticed that there was light coming through the rear seal where we assume it should be fitting snugly. We also noticed that if we lightly lift and push the drum toward the back of the dryer that no light shows through. Is this normal? Ideas for fixing? Thanks.
