GE Side by Side: Refrigerator side will not cool lower than 54 degrees. Freezer is cold and keeping items frozen. The damper is not opening to let cold air into the fresh food side, it is closed completely. Mother board has been replaced. I also replaced these parts with new parts: damper and thermistor assembly, defrost thermostat, and the thermistor that is a few inches above the defrost thermostat. There is moderate frost on the evaporator coils, heavier on the lower coils, but not solid ice, and less frost on the upper coils. The evaporator fan motor is working.

I suspect the defrost heater may be the problem but don't know if that is the reason the damper will not open and let cold air into the fresh food side.

Can you help me determine why the damper is not opening?

Thanks,
Van Merritt
