I had some time to do a few tests and came back with the following.

Resistance across thermostat and heater coil is ~110 ohm.
Checking resistance across the heater coil alone the coils make up most of this (circa 50 ohm per coil and there are 2 coils connected in series).

though i left it connected in circuit, resistance across the thermostat was very low (< 10 ohm).

voltage going to the evaporator fan is measuring at 13.5 V DC.

Thermistor was about 15.8 kohm which is supposedly in spec.

Based on the above it sounds like my issue could actually be fan related.
Is it possible the control circuitry in the fan itself may have gone bad? Or should i replace the board and the fan?

Hi All,

The evaporator fan in my GE side by side (model PSG22SISAFSS) is not running correctly.

The fan motor itself seems OK (when it does run it can run at full speed no problems) however it would appear it is not being controlled correctly.

Turning the fridge off at the wall socket for a few minutes then turning it back on will cause the evaporator fan to fire up again briefly but several hours later it is clear there are still air circulation issues as the ice shelf at the top is not freezing properly and the crisper draw in the fridge is freezing everything.

Is anyone able to advise what the issue could be?
or how to diagnose?

My understanding is these electronic models have many main board and control issues in general.
