Just FYI - I ordered the 3 coil kit the afternoon of July 15...the parts arrived by 1:00 PM the next day!! My son had them in the dryer that night, and my trusty old Maytag is working like usual.

Your company is exceptional in the customer support you offer and the extremely prompt delivery of customer orders. Thanks!

Hi.

Unplug the dryer, remove two philips screws at the bottom of the front panel, pull the bottom out to disengage the clips at the top and rotate the panel to the left. Now you have the access to the coils. Follow the instructions in the package.

Good luck. Please keep us posted with the results.

Thank you,

Simon.

Thanks so much for such a prompt and helpful reply!

Well, I'm still debating what to do. It's a tough decision! I admit I am attached to it! My Maytag washer and dryer are almost 39 yrs old. I was hoping I could brag that they lasted for 40 yrs. (They've never seen a repairman! In the past, my husband had replaced 2 parts on the dryer, but that's been it!)

If I go with repairs, it will be the 3 coil kit. My 38 yr old son would be installing them. (He's pretty handy.) Is there an online video? Is the process quite straightforward?

Hi, OmaDee.

You have a typical case of failed gas valve coils. It's an old style dryer and takes three coils versus two coils in a newer style. Depends how much you are attracted to your dryer you have three ways to go:

-replace three coils kit Part number: AP4008890
Part number: AP4008890

-replace the whole new gas valve assembly (more expensive)

Part number: AP4260933
Part number: AP4260933

(Please ignore the repair video, it will be corrected next day.)

-replace the dryer :)

Good luck. Please keep us posted with the results.

Thank you.

Simon.

Maytag dryer DG308: When I start the dryer, the igniter comes on, and the gas does light. The dryer heats up just fine. However, after a few minutes, the gas turns off. The igniter comes on again, but the gas does not relight. What part(s) should I look at replacing?

Thanks!
