Yes, the thermal fuse is bad and that will prevent the dryer from heating. To test the thermistor, you need to set the meter to a higher resistance scale. The thermistor is a resistor whose value depends upon its temperature. At 77 degrees, it should read around 10 thousand ohms.

Another quick follow-up: I removed and tested the thermistor (AP4045224) and it's not getting a tone and there is no reading on my digital multimeter.

Does this mean both the thermistor and thermal fuse assembly are both bad? Just trying to figure out which parts to order.

Hello!
I'm hoping someone could help me. My Amana Dryer isn't heating up! I figured it was the heating element as this is usually the culprit from previous experiences;however, when I opened up my dryer and looked, the heating element is perfectly fine.

I took the thermostat (part #AP4045617) off the metal-carriage-thing and tested it with my digital multimeter. I'm not the most advanced multimeter user, unfortunately. I set it to 'resistance with tone' and I get a beep when I touch both terminals. Using the lowest ohm setting (200) I get a reading of around 00.1.


I also took off the thermal fuse assembly (part #AP4045859) and tested it with my multimeter. I don't get a tone when testing this component - no reading on the digital multimeter (stays at 1). Does this pinpoint that the problem is with the thermal fuse assembly?
