These Whirlpool Duets are extremely difficult to diagnose and your problem is just another example of that fact. Quite frankly there is no logical explanation for what you are experiencing and I can only advise that you try replacing the main control unit.

If you buy from this site (those of us who respond are volunteers, not associated with APP) and the new control unit does not fix it you can return it. You could then try the motor control unit. But if the new control unit or the motor control unit does not fix it I am at a loss for another suggestion.

I have a whirlpool wfw8500sr00 washer. I replaced the pump because the impeller was broken. Now I am getting SD, F-01, F-21 and F-33 codes. The pump runs fine when I run diagnostics but when I try to run a load it will drain after the wash cycle and rinse cycle but not at spin cycle. I can hear it humming but never starts rotating.I can remove the drain cover and let a small amount of water(no suds) drain out and it will start turning again. I thought the replacement pump was defective so I returned it and the 2nd new one does the same thing. I have checked all connections and none are corroded or loose. I have removed drain hoses and all are clear and free of kinks. Any help is greatly appreciated.
