Sorry for not responding earlier but I was at the lake.
A repair person should be able to rewire it.
I would be sure to tell them what you want so they show up with the correct parts.
Also be sure to get an estimate as iyt may not be worth it.
You may need a new element, infinite switch etc.

Sir, awesome that is the part and was able to order online! the only other issue with the stove is the front right "sensi-temp" burner is nonoperational - can a repairman rewire it to accept "normal" burners?

I could not find info on this exact model number but below is a unit from that series of units. Parts for GE JHP67GXD2 / Range - AppliancePartsPros.comI think you are looking for item 912 in section 02. Click on the part's picture or description for more info on it. Looks like it is an obsolete part but in the Cross Reference Information it does give manufacturer's numbers and you could use them to search around (Google) to see if you can find one. The squares of the picture are one inch. This may help with the size of it. If you have no luck on the net then perhaps print out the picture and take it to a appliance parts outlet. If you get a friendly counter person who knows their stock they may have something close. My fear here is that the item is probably made of a material that can withstand the heat from the oven so a metal one would probably be the best. An item that looks similar to this is a grease nipple. Perhaps you can find one of them that is close in size and then with a little jiggery pokery get that to work as a replacement.

sorry stove model # JHP67GOD2WH - it is for the top door - small plastic "screw" with tip to insert into female end of stove frame to keep closed - crazy if this plastic part makes the stove kaput...
any assistance is appreciated

we have a 1970's era GE Americana in great shape but the top door won't close properly - there is a small plastic "nub" on the top door that broke - it should fit into the female end on the stove body to hold door shut - hate to get rid of a great stove for a part should cost a few cents...:confused:
any help?
