i have a hotpoint fridge. in the upper right corner of the non freezer side there is a water filter. water drips from the plastic nub with o-rings that feeds into the water filer down into the refrigerator compartment. the filter is new and not the issue. a repairman told me that the internal tubing leading to the water filter component has no give and, therefore, there is no way to install a new component that the water filter could connect to. i was told i could either forget about the water dispenser/ice maker or buy a new refrigerator.

i have found it impossible to verify this information by calling GE. their only response is, we'll gladly schedule a service call @ 89 bucks.

any ideas? or is the drip in fact irreparable. many thanks.
