You probably can use another, made by Whirlpool, ice maker which will save you some $$$. The only thing about that ice maker is: it comes without the head cove and the shut off arm. You will nedd to use them from the old ice maker.

Gene,
Took the old icemaker apart and the motor has a bad burnt odor. New icemaker by whirlpool 4317943 looks identical has flat plug.

Did you inspect the old ice maker? Did you see any damage to it?

What kind of the wall plug for the ice maker is in your refrigerator? Is it round or flat?

What is the part number of the ice maker you going to install?

Icemaker was smoking and smelled like something burning, removed icemaker and have new one in hand but wondering if I should check electrical connection before installation or do the install and hope for the best.
