Hi.

There is the chance that by reconnecting the plug you fixed the problem. If not , you still need to check the voltage when the fan is dead.

I turned the fan by hand to see if it the motor would catch or drag, but it seemed to spin fine.

So I pulled apart the connections to check for corrosion. The wiring was like new.

so it turned out that the fridge had stopped while I was at work yesterday. so I began pulling out the shelves and the ice maker to get to the back panel. and as im pulling the back panel out, the fan started running again, just like it used to when I would thump the side of the fridge.

Hi.

Disregard the cold control replacement.
When the fan stops remove the evaporator cover and check if it gets 120VAC.
If it does - replace the motor Part number: 5303918549
Part number: 5303918549

If not - most likely the adaptive defrost control Part number: 5303918476
Part number: 5303918476

Good luck. Post the results.
