I checked the switch last night with a meter and the door latch. No problem even with meter. At this point I believe that it probably is the control panel. Therefore, because of the cost and age of the unit I am going to replace the dishwasher. Thanks again.

Already changed out control board with a new one. If it is a panel< I believe that this is another $100 plus part. Sounds like repairman may have been right for wrong reason. Thanks agai.

You did not describe the problem was so I am guessing. Usually certain keys not working etc. is either the keypad/control panel or the control board. Only way to narrow it down is to disconnect the keypad and check it's outputs with a meter. Ifit checks out OK then replace the control board. Still a bit of a crap shoot but your odds are better. As far as Maytag being "junk". When they do not work all appliances are so called junk and when they work they are great. Perhaps the tech has problems fixing Maytag and that is why the person feels they are junk.

Had a repair man out and said that control panel was the problem. He recommended replacing the dishwasher because he said Maytag was "junk" but did give me the part number. First part shipped was wrong part. I then contacted supplier and they were happy to replace control panel with apologies and discount. Put part in and unit still not starting. All other lights work and there does not seem to be any signs of scorching at any connector. Door latch looks good also with no signs of scorching on either side. Wife stated that the original problem was the same before we replaced the control panel. What next? Any resetting of unit? Fuses,etc. Thanks for you advice.
