I reran the washer and this happened:
With just water the entire agitator moved. When I put some clothes in it the bottom part spun but the top did not.
Should I still do as you suggested?

Hi. Pry off the the top cap, remove the 7/16 bolt and pull out the agitator. Turn the washer on and check if the transmission shaft is moving and you can't stop it by hand. If the shaft is OK - replace the agitator base. If not - transmission. The agitator base Part number: 3350830

The model number is LXR9245EQ2.
At first the agitator was making a clicking noise like you could tell it was stuck. It's not making that noise but it's now not really moving at all. I can move it by hand freely but it doesn't did it on it's own.

I have a whirlpool heavy duty extra large capacity plus washier and the agitator works intermittently. How do I diagnosis the issue and what needs to be replaced? It's about 8 years old and used about 4 times a week.
