I would try changing out both of them, but if you buy from this site and you ultimately don't need the part you can return it. See the returns policy for details.

Inside the lower service panel should be some tech notes that will enable you to do some testing.

This machine got backed up with a plugged drain. Now it starts, will fill, but does not spin. It starts thru the timer cycle, but either takes very long or does not get thru it. When it got thru last time it pumped the loose water out, but the clothes were filled with water yet as it did not spin. Makes no noise, unless its in the pump cycle, and there is not enough water, then it makes a dry pump sound. Door seems to lock OK, and door lock light comes on.
My question- it seems I need an electronic control, there is a timer control
near the coin changer, and a speed control on the lower rt rear corner.
I would prefer to buy only one of these, but need get the washer going.
I had a repair guy out, he just said to buy both or get a new washer.
Because it's only 2 years old, I would prefer to repair it.
