This sounds more like a clutch or brakes problem. Read the sticky at the top of the Washer Forum page by Richappy on direct drive brakes and use the video library http://forum.appliancepartspros...asher-repair-videos.htmlto find the video that will show you how to open it up and replace the clutch.

Hello, my Kenmore washing machine 110.26962500 will no longer spin the load at the end of the cycle. If I take the washer basket and rotate it it's very loose, and then will lock down tight and will occasionally start to spin. Sometimes I have to do this multiple times to get it to lock and stay engaged to spin the load. Does this sound like a transmission to you? Everything else works well on the washing machine. Thanks for your help!!
