No doubt the thermostat is bad.

Thanks, I will give the thermostat a shot.

When I open the door, if I give the control panel a little love tap everything kicks on...I do not see any loose connections or shorts so maybe something is wrong in the thermostat.

Makes me feel like "The Fonz" when I give it a tap and it starts to work!

Most likely the problem is a bad thermostat (aka cold control).

Also I would recommend to check the start device on the side of the compressor.

Pull it out and see if it rattles. If it does, then it has to be replaced.

- The part number for the thermostat is AP3037004

- The part number for the overload and start relay assembly is
AP3119971

Good luck.
Gene.

Temps in the freezer fluctuate drastically. Ice cream very hard in the morning, come home from work and its mush! I changed the defrost control timer and defrost thermostat thinking that may be the problem, but this hasn't changed anything. The condensor coils are clean and have stayed clean (clean these every couple of months). I do not see abnormal frost on the coils in the freezer.
When I come home from work and find the freezer warmer than normal, I tpuch the temp control and it kicks everything on. COndensor fan, circulation fan, all come on and run until evrything is frozen again. At times when I touch or move the temp control it will kick on just for a few seconds then turns off, repeat and does it again, repeat and then it stays on?
Do I have a problem with the temp control thermostat?
Or maybe a condensor problem?
