My Amana washer was stopping mid-cycle, so I changed the timer, thinking that was the problem. That didn't help. I then thought the motor was overheating as it was hot to the touch. While washing, it would cut off, then I could restart it a few minutes later, so I assumed that it was overheating, cutting off, then cooling down enough for me to restart it. So I took the belt and pump off and ran the motor with no load on it. In that mode, the motor runs for about 10 seconds, then cuts off, but then it will restart itself about 10 seconds later. The thing it, it doesn't seem to be getting nearly as hot with no load, so I'm wondering what's causing it to shut off. And why is it restarting so quickly? Is this just a case of a bad motor or a switch or something else?

Thanks for helping!
